These four walls Sitting at home Wish someone would call And break my fall Wish someone would shout And get me out To anywhere but here Other than this To suggest something clear Reduce my fear These four walls A problem starts all by itself At first wasn't true Becomes your only truth These four walls Will comfort you Say you're busy Can't come out don't come round Four wall surround Underground I think I know that soul Arrange a call Out of the safe box Change the locks Four wall surround Underground People stop asking in the end These four walls Have booked me up I think I know that soul Arrange a call Out of the safe box Change the locks These four walls These four walls These four walls

Oh my heart begins to race When its there upon your face Oh its music to my soul Makes my world feel whole When you smile When you smile when you smile when you smile When you smile Always makes me feel alright Brightens up the darkest night If I ever felt in vain It would take away my pain When you smile Take away my pain When you smile Oh this feeling lasts for hours Thanks to your special powers This gift is such a prize That I see before my eyes That I see before my eyes When you smile Smile smile smile smile smile It's a drug and I want more Could it even stop a war Mother natures given charm Fix any kind of harm Its that early morning cheer That I've come to hold so dear So proud and full of grace Keep that smile across your face Its that early morning cheer That I've come to hold so dear So proud and full of grace Just smile

To the bridge of tears they brought them On a slender ridge of stones They left them staring silently At the mountains bogs below Bitterly the children cried To be left so on their own Never to be held or kissed again As on that ridge of stone Nothing to see for far or near Save last years white sheep's bones Heather and granite in between The bridge and the old one's souls Bitterly the children cried To be left so on their own Never to be held or kissed again As on that ridge of stone They grew up thin and twisted Like the roots of an old bog oak Working the land as farm hands raw In a farmer's slaving yolk Bitterly the children cried To be left so on their own Never to be held or kissed again As on that ridge of stone

Like a reflection on The Liffey Followed its trail To the action To your old heart Did they pluck that rose Did they use you Like a reflection on The Liffey From your nose to your toes To another day Your seeds are scattered In a place that's home Your stamp is known As I stared across the water I felt close to you That drink, that glass, that backstreet bar The old cobbled streets To that drink, that glass, that backstreet bar Like a reflection on The Liffey The park, the green, that building on TV Like a reflection on The Liffey Travels to the sea Sped away on a journey Your seeds are scattered In a place that's home Your stamp is known Like a reflection on The Liffey Travels to the sea Sped away on a journey To your old heart The current took you speeding away To another day A plan A future tear I felt close to you As I stared across the water Travels to the sea I was sure I saw I saw a shine A sparkle of light Sparkle of light But I'm sure I saw a sparkle on the rivers light I know that now I saw a sparkle on the rivers light Your seeds are scattered In a place that's home Your stamp is known Like a reflection on The Liffey I know that now Still close to a tear

Windrush 03:25
Came came to the motherland With hope with hope Came came to the motherland With dreams with dreams of embracing a mother Came came hope a better life Promised a welcome befitting royalty But in reality There was no love from mother No arms open wide To pull her children to her side Lessons lessons learned in school About the streets paved with gold A fallacy a fallacy Years down the line after the work so hard for mother She wants she wants to dash you away Too many too many people came Just can't take the strain No longer no longer no longer remain The papers to prove a legal right No longer exist Without the papers to prove Mother forces you to lose Came came to the motherland With hope with hope We came to the motherland With dreams of embracing our mother We came to England from the Caribbean With the hope of a better life There was no love from mother No arms open wide To pull her children to her side We came to the mother land With hope of fulfilling our potential We came to the motherland With dreams of embracing our mother We came to the motherland

Can I make an enquiry I often wondered Something remembered What happened to that boy What happened to that child Was he sick, sick of life Never saw that face again Was he OK, grown up then They said you wasn't home A name remembered Often wondered Thought you were sick Sick of life You made it past your teenage years It's actually made my day Saw your name on a page It's actually made my day Some things stick and some things stay Saw your name on a page Saw your name in a book An unusual kind of look Saw your name saw your name It's actually made my day Some things stick and some things stay It's actually made my day Saw your name on a page Some things stick and some things stay Saw your name saw your name Saw your name Saw your name

That London winter In a damp and freezing flat Dying for a cigarette How that takes me back Sitting thru' the early hours Waiting just once more Footsteps oh so lightly tread Just outside my door That tale of passion knows Leaves you sorry, full of woes That tale of passion shows What we've got and how it grows A baby crying across the hall Tried to wake me up at dawn Voices calling thru' the wall I slept on for one Walking thru' the streets at night Listening to the city sleep Wondering what I'm doing here And why I'm in so deep That tale of passion knows Leaves you sorry, full of woes That tale of passion shows What we've got and how it grows Too young to know better Much too old to break free How fast life can turn on one It terrifies me Looking o'er the harbour wall Sitting on an old rucksack Dying for a cigarette How that takes me back

Injured Arm 03:58
The thought is there The seed is sown A thousand songs are thrown And maybe a tune that will linger on Or be remembered or cherished In years to come Into thought Into words Into song In the mists of time A thought remembered A linger on And as I dip my injured arm into the sea The tree that scratched it And damaged it The journey that hatched it Maybe that's where you'll find me And as I dip my And as I dip my injured arm into the sea Maybe that's where you'll find me Maybe that's where you'll find me

about

A studio side step for EBC band leader Erin. A pause from the usual. An Interval from the norm. An experiment. A time to sit and reflect. Some call it a mid life crisis!

Bridge Of Tears (McLachlan)
(Like a Reflection on) The Liffey (Bardwell)

Injured Arm (Bardwell)

Most instruments & vocals by Erin. With help from a few regular Pop-A-Top studio faces - Pete Fitzsimmons, Matty Bane, Sarah Loveday-Drury & Colin Berry. But its the fresh sound of the cello, played by Silke Burkhardt, that has really helped this album gain some character of its own.

Also one off features from Dave Clifton (Original Hotknives), Rowena Cameron-Tew (The Skanxters), occasional collaborators Richie Vincent and Sonya Beale, and Mr H.R. Stredder on Timbale drum for a tune!

Along with two songs penned by Erin's uncle, Eddie McLachlan, which were originally written years ago (on an Irish folk album by Ciunas - 'Celtic Tiger')
